Summary

"The Pilgrim's Progress in Words of One Syllable" by Mary Godolphin is a simpler take on an old story about a man named Christian and his big trip. Christian is sad because he feels weighed down by his sins. An Evangelist tells him to seek the Wicket Gate to be saved. Christian wants to get rid of his burden and reach the Celestial City, but lots of bad things get in his way. He gets stuck in a muddy Slough, and his friends try to get him to quit. One friend, Pliable, starts the trip with him but gives up fast. The story shows that it's important to stay strong in your beliefs, even when you are scared or unsure. It's a journey about changing yourself and finding what you believe in.
