The Chums of Scranton High out for the Pennant or, In the Three Town League

"The Chums of Scranton High Out for the Pennant" by Donald Ferguson is a story about a group of high school friends at Scranton High during the early 1900s who strive to win their baseball league. The story follows team captain Hugh Morgan, his buddy Thad Stevens, and pals Owen Dugdale and "Just" Smith as they get excited to practice for the upcoming championship in the Three Town League, but their start is delayed by rain.
