Fairy Gold Ship's Company, Part 4.

"Fairy Gold" by W. W. Jacobs is a funny story about friendship and chasing after money, set in a time when people’s plans often went hilariously wrong. It tells the tale of Mr. Augustus Teak and Mr. Alfred Chase. They think Mrs. Teak is hiding a treasure of money, so they come up with a tricky plan to find it. Chase pretends to be a lodger to sneak around, and Teak tries to keep his wife busy, which leads to confusion and silly arguments. Their sneaky scheme backfires when Chase gets caught, and they learn Mrs. Teak moved the money herself; so they are left looking foolish because of their own greedy plan.
