Summary

"My Danish Sweetheart: A Novel. Volume 2 of 3" by William Clark Russell is a 19th-century fiction novel that tells the story of Hugh Tregarthen and Helga Nielsen whose lives take an unexpected turn when they're saved from a raft. Stuck aboard the "Early Morn," they encounter memorable personalities, fight to stay alive, and learn about hope, friendship, and the tough parts of life at sea. The book starts with a tense scene on the "Early Morn," where Hugh explains how they ended up in this mess to the crew. Right away, we see how close these people are and how loyal they are to each other. The crew – Abraham, Jacob, and Tommy – share that they're planning on going to Australia, showing that they are shielding Helga and Hugh. As the adventure goes on, Hugh and Helga deal with not knowing what's going to happen to them, all while dealing with the huge, stormy Atlantic Ocean, while hoping that they get to come back home soon. The things the characters say and do show how tough they can be, and that's what keeps the story moving.
