Summary

** "Irish Memories" by E. Œ. Somerville is a collection of personal stories that capture the author's life in Ireland during the early 1900s. Through warm and reflective storytelling, Somerville shares her experiences, the captivating nature of Irish society, and the beauty of the Irish countryside. The strong friendship between Somerville and her friend, Martin Ross, and their shared views on Irish living are central to the book. Somerville begins by thanking those who helped her along the way and recognizes the difficulty of sharing Martin Ross's memories after her death. Instead of a strict life story, Somerville aims to create a playful reflection on times past, interesting people, and changes in Irish culture, especially as they connect to the close relationships and social happenings of their upbringing at Ross House. **
