"Lost in the Backwoods: A Tale of the Canadian Forest" by Catharine Parr Strickland Traill is an adventure story set in 19th-century Canada, that follows the lives of settlers as they adapt to life in the wilderness. The story kicks off amidst Cold Springs, a valley transformed by the Maxwell family, where the children, along with their mother's cousin and brother, innocently wander off into the Canadian forest. Their adventure quickly turns into a survival challenge, pushing them to their limits, testing their friendships, and forcing them to learn from their mistakes as they seek to find their way back home.
