Summary

"India and Tibet" by Sir Francis Edward Younghusband is a book that tells the story of how India and Tibet interacted with each other over a long period, especially when Britain tried to build connections with them. It talks about important trips to Lhasa and how things changed because of trade, culture, and politics. It starts by explaining how Britain became more interested in Tibet after problems with Bhutan. The book shows how Warren Hastings tried to be friendly and create trade, even though it was hard because of the way Tibet was and the local leaders. Starting with Bogle's trip in 1774, the book looks closely at how diplomacy, different cultures, and the search for peace all played a role in the relationship between these two places with a shared history.
