Summary

"Ursula" by Honoré de Balzac is a story placed in the 1800's that looks at families, money, and what society expects of people. At the heart of the story is a girl named Ursula, and her very rich great-uncle, Doctor Minoret. The town's post master, Minoret-Levrault, is waiting for his son to come home when he hears that his uncle, Doctor Minoret, is attending church, and that involves Ursula. When Minoret suddenly becomes very religious, his relatives start fighting because they think Ursula will get the money they were supposed to inherit. This creates a story full of jealousy and problems over morals with interesting people that show what life was like for middle-class people in France during that time.
