Tom Fairfield's Hunting Trip; or, Lost in the Wilderness

"Tom Fairfield's Hunting Trip; or, Lost in the Wilderness" by Allen Chapman is an early 20th-century adventure where young Tom Fairfield and his friends eagerly anticipate a Christmas hunting trip to the Adirondacks, only to have their carefree plans complicated by the sudden return of their disliked former teacher, Professor Skeel; the boys’ holiday spirit shines as they prepare for their escapade, even engaging in pranks like rolling a giant snowball, which hilariously backfires on Skeel; however, the narrative quickly shifts when they discover suspicious footprints near their cabin, suggesting they're being watched and hinting at potential dangers involving Skeel and mysterious figures.
