Summary

"What's Mine's Mine — Volume 3" by George MacDonald is a novel where love and integrity clash against societal expectations in the late 1800s. The story centers on Alister, whose moral compass is tested when his growing affection for Mercy brings him face-to-face with his own deeply held values about class and money. Mercy, now in a fresh setting, seeks to grow and understand the complexities of love, while characters like Ian showcase honor. Trouble brews with the introduction of Mercy's father, Peregrine Palmer, a rich distiller, which places Alister at odds with his own beliefs and initiates a struggle involving family, society, and the true meaning of love.
