Beginning with an ordinary school life, Jack’s world turns upside down the day news comes of his appointment to the ship "Falcon." Themes of courage and friendship emerge as Jack leaves his normal life behind for a life at sea. Now, faced with uncertain thrills of naval duty, the young man must now face challenges that await him at sea and during battle.

About the Author

George Alfred Henty was an English novelist and war correspondent. He is best known for his works of adventure fiction and historical fiction, including The Dragon & The Raven (1886), For The Temple (1888), Under Drake's Flag (1883) and In Freedom's Cause (1885).
