Summary

"Mothers to Men" by Zona Gale is a story that highlights the intense bond between a father and son as they navigate a world shadowed by loss. Set against the backdrop of a rainy night, a father wrestles with grief and the weight of parental duty after his wife's passing, even contemplating leaving his son to ensure the boy's safety and future. The son, with an untouched innocence, innocently worries about a hole in his shoe, unaware of the depth of his father's internal battle and the sacrifices he's considering. The novel begins by painting a picture of their dire circumstances, where every step leads them closer to the welcoming arms and open hearts of Friendship Village.
