Summary

"The Story of Julia Page" by Kathleen Thompson Norris is a book that explores the life of Emeline Page, a woman navigating the difficulties of marriage and motherhood in a working-class environment, revealing her unhappiness and her hopes for a brighter future for her and her daughter, Julia. From the beginning, the reader meets Emeline, who is struggling with her disappointment about her life and her marriage to George, where she thinks about her childhood dreams and how different they are from her current problems, including money troubles and problems in her marriage, which further looks into the dynamics of her family life, showing how her dreams become connected to her daughter Julia's life. As Julia gets older, Emeline starts to focus more on her daughter, hoping to make her dreams come true through Julia, while also dealing with her own feelings of resentment and regret about being a mother and what society expects of her.
