Summary

"The Lady of the Lake" by Sir Walter Scott is a poem that tells a story filled with Scottish history and love, set in the beautiful Highlands around Loch Katrine. It's a story about love, loyalty, and fighting, featuring characters such as the wise and honorable Sir Roderick Dhu, the woman he loves Ellen Douglas, and the brave knight James Fitz-James. The poem starts with a wild hunt in the Highlands, where a deer is trying to escape. Sir Roderick Dhu is shown as a proud man who deeply loves Ellen. During the hunt, a stranger, James Fitz-James, meets Ellen by the lake. This meeting sets up the drama to come, where the problems between clans and doing what's right mix with a growing love.
