"The Wolf Trail" by Roger Pocock is a story set in the early 1900s, that follows Bill Fright, a young man working on the London River, as he deals with problems with his family, like his father's drinking, and the memory of his dead uncle. The story shows the tough parts of life at that time, mixed with a bit of the supernatural, as Bill's life gets mixed up with both real-world issues and strange, dream-like experiences. At the beginning, readers are introduced to a busy bar with interesting people, but peacefulness fades when Bill's dad causes trouble while drunk, reminding Bill of his family's dark history. As Bill tries to understand his relationships, he starts to discover connections to a mysterious world, making him think about life, death, and the challenges people face.
