Summary

"The Professor's House" by Willa Cather is a story about Professor Godfrey St. Peter as he deals with big changes in his life, like moving to a new house after many years in his old one. He thinks a lot about what has happened in his past, his family, and his relationships with people, especially his daughters and a talented young man named Tom Outland. The professor spends time in his garden, remembering the past and dealing with his mixed feelings about his family and their connections to Outland. In his old, empty house, he thinks about all the things that have happened and struggles with the difficulties of leaving behind a place with so many memories.
