Summary

"Old Testament Legends" by M. R. James is a collection of reimagined stories from the Old Testament's apocryphal books. Imagine familiar figures like Adam and Abraham stepping out of the well-known Bible stories and into new adventures where their faith is tested. These tales, written in simple language, bring forgotten legends to life, focusing on themes of forgiveness, belief, and encounters with the divine. The author's goal is to expand classic narratives and provide the reader with unique perspectives that emphasize the importance of interpreting these legends while highlighting the constant interaction between humans and a higher power.

About the Author

Montague Rhodes James was an English medievalist scholar and author who served as provost of King's College, Cambridge (1905–1918), and of Eton College (1918–1936) as well as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge (1913–1915). James's scholarly work is still highly regarded, but he is best remembered for his ghost stories, which are considered by many critics and authors as the finest in the English language and widely influential on modern horror.
