Summary

"Guilt of the Brass Thieves" by Mildred A. (Mildred Augustine) Wirt is a mystery novel that pulls readers into the world of Penny Parker and her father, Anthony, as they arrive on Shadow Island and become entangled in island mysteries, including thefts at an airplane factory owned by Mr. Gandiss. Initially facing the frustration of a delayed welcome by their host, Jack Gandiss, Penny soon discovers a complex web of relationships and rivalries, most notably between Jack and Sally Barker, stemming from a sailing competition. A stormy river adventure that leaves Penny, Jack, and her father stranded tests their resilience and underscores the importance of teamwork, setting the stage for deeper mysteries and the looming sailboat race, full of clues.
