The Tale of a Trooper

"The Tale of a Trooper" by Clutha N. Mackenzie is about Mac, a New Zealand stockman, whose peaceful life is turned upside down with the outbreak of World War I. He and his friend Charley leave their sheep station, driven by a sense of duty and a thirst for adventure, to join the Wellington Mounted Rifles as troopers. The book captures Mac's transformation from a simple farm worker to a soldier embarking on a journey to a war-torn world, where he faces challenges that test his courage and change his understanding of heroism, all while leaving behind the familiar comforts of home.
