Summary

"When the Squadron Dropped Anchor" by Thomson Burtis is a historical fiction story from the early 1900s about Stanley Graydon, once a respected marine captain, who is kicked out of the navy after being wrongly accused of cheating and now wants to clear his name. The story, set in Central America, looks at ideas like honor, being betrayed, and fighting for what's right. After being forced out of the navy, Graydon deals with his ruined reputation. He goes to Santander, but faces anger from people there, including Colonel Henriquez. As he tries to clear his name, Graydon gets caught up in a dangerous plot involving an upcoming revolution and foreign spies planning bad things against Ramona Bay. He unexpectedly teams up with Don Rafael and comes face to face with the person who accused him. Graydon has to prove he's innocent, while also dealing with lies and staying true to his own beliefs. In the end, the story reveals important truths about honor and sacrifice, as Graydon's fight to clear his name becomes part of a bigger battle for his country.
