"Battle of the Monkey & the Crab" by Anonymous is a Japanese fairy tale exploring justice and revenge through animal characters. A clever monkey tricks a crab into trading a tasty rice-cake for a persimmon seed. The crab plants the seed, which grows into a fruit -bearing tree, but the selfish monkey refuses to share the ripe persimmons, cruelly pelting the crab with unripe ones.
