Summary

"The Kingdom of Love" by Ella Wheeler Wilcox is a poetic journey through the highs and lows of love and life. These poems, penned in the early 1900s, reveal the author’s exploration of love, grief, and what it means to be human, often focusing on the complicated nature of relationships and a deep need to connect with others. One of the poems, called "The Kingdom of Love", starts with a character searching for love, traveling and meeting many interesting figures along the way, then the character realizes that real love is back home. This idea of finding out that what you were really looking for was there all along is a common one in the beginning of the collection, setting the stage for many more poems that look at love from heartfelt and thoughtful points of view.
