The Princess Idleways: A Fairy Story

"The Princess Idleways: A Fairy Story" by Helen Ashe Hays is a captivating late 19th-century fairy tale about Princess Laura, a privileged but unmotivated young woman whose mother seeks the help of the fairy Motherkin. This intervention sends Laura on an extraordinary journey into the forest, where she confronts challenges in a humble cottage to learn the importance of diligence and compassion. Tasked with caring for animals and completing household tasks, she meets a kindred spirit in Kathie. Their relationship blossoms into a meaningful friendship where Princess Laura learns of the importance of helping others. Throughout the story, Princess Laura undergoes an evolution from a carefree princess to a selfless young woman ready to share her gifts with a community in need. The change shows the value of responsibility, kindness, and the rewards of helping others.
