Summary

"Sex-Education" by Maurice A. Bigelow is a book of lectures from the early 1900's that argues for the critical role of sex education in supporting both individual lives and community health. The author introduces the claim that real understanding of sex is needed, and failing to have this comprehension results in problems for society and our health. The author disapproves of keeping quiet about sex in the past and makes the point that it has led to wrong ideas and has not kept people innocent. The book says that for sex education to work well, it must come from trained people such as family, teachers, and government groups, so that young people can deal with sexuality with both information and wisdom; and because of this the book looks into areas that should be talked about, such as cleanliness, diseases, and what is right and wrong in sexual relationships.
