Summary

"Jim Mortimer" by R. S. Warren Bell is a story set in the early 1900s about a young surgeon named Jim Mortimer who is trying to find his place in the world. Jim, a tall and easy-going guy, spends a lot of time helping out at his grandfather’s hospital instead of taking care of his life. His grandfather, Dr. Mortimer, isn't happy with Jim’s choices, especially with his budding affection for Dora Maybury, a post woman. Jim's relaxed attitude and quick decisions cause problems, starting a journey where he has to learn from his mistakes and grow up. The story talks a lot about what it's like to be young, wanting to do great things, and how your actions can really affect what happens to you later in life.
