Summary

"Serapis — Volume 05" by Georg Ebers is a historical novel set in ancient Alexandria, exploring the clash between old pagan beliefs and the rising force of Christianity. The story follows Gorgo, a woman torn between her love for Constantine and the chaos engulfing her world. Emotionally shattered after leaving her ailing grandmother, Gorgo faces further turmoil with rumors of destruction, forcing her to choose between her fading religion and her connection to Constantine, who is mixed up in the conflict with the Christians. Her grandmother's death intensifies her grief but solidifies her determination to stand by Constantine as their world faces annihilation, come hail or high water.
