Summary

"Young Blood" by E. W. Hornung is a gripping tale set in the late 1800s, following Harry Ringrose, a young man whose anticipated homecoming turns into a nightmare when he finds his family's life in ruins. Returning from Africa, Harry expects a joyous reunion, only to face an empty, auctioned-off home and a missing father mired in scandal. As Harry grapples with the shock of his family's disgrace, he is forced to confront the grim truth about his father's actions and the sudden burden of adult responsibilities thrust upon him. A family friend arrives with unsettling revelations of financial ruin and flight, setting Harry on a desperate quest to untangle the web of deceit and find his father, all while battling the sting of lost innocence and shattered expectations.

About the Author

Ernest William Hornung was an English author and poet known for writing the A. J. Raffles series of stories about a gentleman thief in late 19th-century London. Hornung was educated at Uppingham School; as a result of poor health he left the school in December 1883 to travel to Sydney, where he stayed for two years. He drew on his Australian experiences as a background when he began writing, initially short stories and later novels.
