"Strictly Business"

"Strictly Business" by F. Morton Howard is a comedic story from the early 1900s that takes place in a small coastal town. It follows Captain Peter Putt and the quirky crew of the ship "Jane Gladys" as they face the possibility of losing their jobs after the ship's owner decides to sell. The crew, already bummed out, gets even worse news when the Captain gets the official letter about the sale. Then, the cook, Horace Dobb, comes up with a wacky and funny plan involving two local women, a mother and daughter, to help Captain Gooster from another ship find a wife. This leads to chaotic events filled with mistaken identities and romantic mishaps as the crew tries to find new jobs and chase after their personal dreams.
