Summary

"Twelfth Night; Or, What You Will" by William Shakespeare is a funny play that takes place in the enchanting world of Illyria, where love, mistaken identities, and tricky relationships take center stage. You'll meet Viola, who dresses up as a man named Cesario, and Duke Orsino, who’s head-over-heels for the distant Countess Olivia, who is very sad about the death of her brother. We start in Duke Orsino’s palace, where he listens to music and is sad about Olivia not loving him back. Then, we meet Viola, who survives a shipwreck and thinks her twin brother Sebastian is dead. She decides to become a man so she can work for Orsino. As Viola gets used to her new life, she gets caught in a love triangle with Orsino and Olivia. Olivia doesn't love Orsino, but she is attracted to the young 'man' (Viola) he sends to try and win her heart, which causes a lot of funny mix-ups and sets the scene for a story that will be hilarious, heartwarming, and full of surprises.

About the Author

William Shakespeare was an English playwright, poet and actor. He is widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon". His extant works, including collaborations, consist of some 39 plays, 154 sonnets, three long narrative poems and a few other verses, some of uncertain authorship. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright. Shakespeare remains arguably the most influential writer in the English language, and his works continue to be studied and reinterpreted.
