Summary

"Jonah of the Jove-Run" by Ray Bradbury is an exciting science fiction story that pictures a future full of space travel to Mars and Jupiter. The main character is an old man who feels useless and unappreciated because he can guide spaceships just by feeling it, instead of using machines. But the crew of a ship named Rocket Terra needs his help when their important machine breaks down, which puts their mission to help colonists in danger. On the ship, the old man must deal with his past mistakes and prove he is still valuable. He even does something bad on purpose because he is so desperate, but then he uses his special skill to figure out a dangerous path through asteroids. In the end, he makes a selfless sacrifice, knowing he will die, but happy that his last calculations saved the crew. He learns to accept his own death knowing he helped others and he was useful. The whole story is a mix of human feelings and futuristic science, showing that even with all the machines, human intuition is still important.
