Summary

"A Gray Eye or So" by Frank Frankfort Moore is a story set in Ireland during the late 1800s, where Harold and Edmund spend their time on a boat, thinking about big ideas like love, what women are like, and doing well in life. They talk a lot about what people expect from relationships and how men feel pressured to get married and have successful careers. Right from the start, Harold seems to be more interested in his head. Edmund makes sure that they aren't so lost that they forget to think about others who's actions or past actions could be hurt by it, and they have some funny stories from the boatman, Brian. It explores funny social situations and dreams against the background of the late Victorian society.

About the Author

Frank Frankfort Moore (1855–1931) was an Irish journalist, novelist, dramatist, and poet. He was a Belfast Protestant and a unionist, but his historical fiction during the years of Home Rule agitation did not shy from themes of Irish-Catholic dispossession.
