Summary

"Ten Years After: A Reminder" by Philip Gibbs is a look back at how World War I changed the world, written about ten years after it ended. It's about how people felt let down and how society was shaken up after the war, even though at first everyone was excited about it. The author shows how different countries were affected, especially Britain and France, and starts by talking about how the war was like a "spiritual tremor" that shocked everyone. He talks about how peaceful things seemed before the war and how that peace was broken when the fighting started. He remembers how people felt both scared and determined as they got ready for war, thinking they were doing the right thing. But the book also shows how the horrible reality of the war changed those ideas into something bitter and disappointing in the years that came after.
