Summary

"Her Majesty's Minister" by William Le Queux is a tale set in a Europe teetering on the edge of war, where Gerald Ingram, a British Embassy worker in Paris, finds himself tangled in webs of secrets and personal drama. It starts with Ingram’s boss being worried about diplomatic leaks that could hurt England, and Yolande's arrival in Paris complicates everything, as Ingram’s past connection with her makes them wary of her true intentions. The intrigue thickens as Ingram uncovers concerning facts about Yolande and her ties to the mysterious Rodolphe Wolf, hinting at dark forces at play, putting them on a path rife with suspicion and uncertainty. The story blends romance with high-stakes political maneuvering, setting a tone of suspense that builds up to Yolande's death, leaving loyalty in question, a mystery to solve, and hints at unseen betrayals.

About the Author

William Tufnell Le Queux was an Anglo-French journalist and writer. He was also a diplomat, a traveller, a flying buff who officiated at the first British air meeting at Doncaster in 1909, and a wireless pioneer who broadcast music from his own station long before radio was generally available; his claims regarding his own abilities and exploits, however, were usually exaggerated. His best-known works are the anti-French and anti-Russian invasion fantasy The Great War in England in 1897 (1894) and the anti-German invasion fantasy The Invasion of 1910 (1906), the latter becoming a bestseller.
