"The Works of Max Beerbohm" by Max Beerbohm is a compilation of writings from the close of the 1800s, offering a mix of literary analysis and witty takes on society. The author explores subjects and offers viewpoints, especially dandyism, as seen in individuals like Beau Brummell. The collection starts by showing elegance and style by looking closely at dandyism through the life of Beau Brummell. Beerbohm compares Brummell's skill in dressing and presenting himself with the shallowness of current fashion. With detailed descriptions and funny stories, he shows the details of dandy culture while also thinking about the social forces at work when he was writing, honoring and questioning the artists who tread the lines of proper behavior and personal expression.
