Summary

Gita struggles with her identity and her family's history, clashing with her grandmother's old-fashioned views on women as she resists the constraints of femininity. The narrative begins with a tense exchange in the Carteret Manor, highlighting Gita's modern, rebellious spirit versus her grandmother's adherence to older values. The story considers the power of generational differences, personal liberty, and the impact of one's heritage, while also hinting towards the potential glimpses of understanding between the two women.
