Summary

"Jimmy Boy" by Sophie May is a charming children's story from long ago that follows the lively adventures of a young boy named Jimmy-boy and his sweet little sister, Lucy. The story is all about their everyday family life and the fun, and sometimes trouble, they find themselves in, especially when big American holidays like the Fourth of July roll around. We quickly see that Jimmy is a boy who thinks highly of himself and isn't afraid to speak his mind, but he also has a very soft spot for Lucy and always looks out for her; for instance, we learn this when Lucy nearly sabotages a birthday cake meant for George Washington, and Jimmy tries to fix the mistake. As we read on, the story shows us how kids learn and grow, deals with the ups and downs of family, and the importance of owning up to your actions, especially as Jimmy's interactions with friends lead to funny situations and help him grow as a person.
