"La Vendée" by Anthony Trollope is a story that takes place in France during a very intense and important period in history. The story concentrates on people who are loyal to the king, and what they experience as they try to bring the monarchy back. Main characters like M. de Lescure, a kind and courageous leader, and Henri de Larochejaquelin, who has a fiery passion for the monarchy, find themselves caught up in the middle of the chaos as supporters of the King. As the revolution takes hold and the king is overthrown, these men decide they must resist the new leaders of France; these tensions build as royalists face growing oppression, culminating in a passionate call to arms to defend their King.
