The Postmaster

"The Postmaster" by Joseph Crosby Lincoln is a story about a retired sea captain named Zebulon Snow, who trades the open ocean for a quiet life in his hometown of Ostable. Hoping for a peaceful retirement, he unexpectedly finds himself running a small country store with the help of his anxious partner Winthrop Adams Beanblossom. Originally, our main character wrestles with boredom and the lack of purpose after leaving his seafaring life behind. Soon he finds himself getting tied into several bets and conversations around work and marriage.
