Summary

"The Sorceress" by Mrs. Oliphant is a story where Bee Kingsward struggles with intense feelings as her mom gets really sick. Bee's journey is all about love, doing what's right, and giving up things for others, showing what it was like for a young woman back then to deal with sad stuff while trying to do what her family and society expected of her. At first, everything seems awful for Bee because she thought she would be happy, but then her mom got super sick. The book makes you feel anxious because Bee is sad about love stuff and also has to be strong for her family because her mom is sick. When the doctor tells Bee how serious things are, she realizes she has to be the strong one, even though she feels broken inside. This is just the beginning of a big story about family, giving up things for others, and how love and sadness keep going, even when things seem hopeless.
