Summary

"Chantry House" by Charlotte M. Yonge is a story set in the early 1900s that follows the Winslow family, with a special focus on Edward Winslow, the narrator, and his brothers and sisters as they journey from their life in London to suddenly inheriting Chantry House, a far-off estate in the country. The book is about the challenges of family relationships, growing up, and learning to live in new places, all while showing the history and society of the time. Edward looks back on his childhood, remembering the love of his family and the big impact his mother and brothers had on him, and the story shows the family's surprise when they get Chantry House, the problems they have because of past accidents involving Edward, and how different his brothers, Griffith and Clarence, are from each other.
