"Upside Down or Backwards" by W. C. Tuttle is a funny story from a 1918 Adventure magazine about two mining partners, Magpie Simpkins and Ike Harper, who get into all sorts of trouble after a drunken shopping trip. It's a story about friendship and how silly life can be, especially in the Wild West. Magpie comes back from a trip with a strange bird, a cassowary, that he doesn't even remember buying. As they try to figure out what to do with the bird, the whole town gets involved, and things get pretty crazy. The story is full of funny talk and interesting people, showing how life can take unexpected turns when you do things without thinking. The bird is a symbol of their foolish adventure and the surprising things that can happen.
