Summary

"Dandy Dick: A Play in Three Acts" by Arthur Wing Pinero, is a funny play that looks at what's proper in society, young people going against the rules, and old ways versus new ways. We see this happen through the Dean's daughters, Salome and Sheba, who get into funny situations because of a costume party and people showing up who are connected to their dad. The play starts at the Deanery of St. Marvells, where Salome and Sheba are worried about going to the masked ball without their father knowing. They are excited but also scared as they try to figure out how to pay for their costumes. Then, the Dean comes in with his problems, and we also meet Major Tarver and Mr. Darbey, who make things even more complicated for the girls. This creates a fun, chaotic story about love, doing what you're supposed to, and the funny difficulties of staying proper when things are changing.
