"Nan Sherwood at Rose Ranch; Or, The Old Mexican's Treasure" by Annie Roe Carr is a story of friendship, and finding treasure. It follows Nan Sherwood and her pals from Lakeview Hall as they greet a new school year. The girls are instantly curious about Rhoda Hammond, and a newcomer to the school from Rose Ranch. Rhoda's character grows as she navigates the pressures of fitting in, old traditions and the promise of hidden riches, resulting in a blend of humor, and drama among the girls.
