Summary

"Pabo, the Priest: A Novel" by S. Baring-Gould is a gripping historical fiction set in 12th-century Wales, a land caught between the ambition of Norman invaders and the fierce spirit of its native people. The story follows King Henry, Welsh noblewoman Nest, and Archpriest Pabo as they navigate a world of political schemes and personal desires that puts their people's survival at risk. As King Henry plots to control Wales, Nest is torn between her loyalty to her homeland and her position as the wife of a Norman lord. Gerald, her husband, seeks to crush the Welsh resistance, while the appointment of a new bishop threatens to destroy their culture. Power, identity, and courage come head-to-head in this clash of cultures.
