"The Jamesons" by Mary Eleanor Wilkins Freeman is a story about the Jameson family, and in particular Mrs. H. Boardman Jameson, arriving in the village of Linnville, and the villagers' simple lives are turned upside down. The book looks closely at how the villagers act when the Jamesons arrive, bringing with them new ideas. In the beginning, there’s a small fire at Caroline Liscom’s house where many of the villagers show up, including the narrator, who sees the Jamesons come to stay in the village. Mrs. Jameson is a strong character who has very specific ideas, and the story shows everyone's interest and worry when the Jamesons make their new home in Linnville and change the way of life.
