Summary

"A Chapter of Adventures" by G. A. (George Alfred) Henty is a thrilling historical adventure that takes place in a 19th-century fishing village, where fourteen-year-old Jack Robson, the diligent son of a fisherman, yearns for a life at sea where his resolve and courage are put to the test. The story opens in the small fishing village of Leigh, where Jack works on a fishing boat and dreams of a the life of a true fisherman: Jack returns from a satisfying fishing trip only to soon thereafter find that his life is soon in peril. While cockling with friends, a strong, unexpected tide sweeps their boat, nearly carrying them away, but just in the nick of time, they are rescued by a coast-guard, which is the beginning of Jack’s adventures on the high seas.

About the Author

George Alfred Henty was an English novelist and war correspondent. He is best known for his works of adventure fiction and historical fiction, including The Dragon & The Raven (1886), For The Temple (1888), Under Drake's Flag (1883) and In Freedom's Cause (1885).
