Summary

"The Cuckoo Clock" by Mrs. Molesworth is a late 19th-century children's novel that tells the story of Griselda, a young girl who enters a world of enchantment when she moves into her elderly aunts' old, peculiar house. The story examines themes of childhood curiosity, the magic of time, and the blending of reality and fantasy. Griselda's curiosity is piqued by the house's resident cuckoo clock, which is hinted to have a personality of its own, by the old servant. Griselda's interaction with the cuckoo kickstarts a series of whimsical adventures and stories that unfold within the magical house.
