Summary

Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Chapters 31 to 35 by Mark Twain is a tale set in pre-Civil War America where a young boy named Huck faces tough choices about friendship and what's right. Huck wrestles with the decision to assist Jim, a runaway slave, in gaining his freedom, which challenges what society tells him is acceptable. After hearing the awful news that Jim has been caught and sold back into slavery, Huck is pulled in opposite directions by what he feels and what people expect of him. Finally, he decides to risk everything to help Jim escape a second time. Through trickery and adventure, Huck's bond with Jim grows stronger, and as he interacts with Tom Sawyer and others, Huck slowly begins to understand the true meaning of compassion and loyalty, mirroring the author's views about the injustice of slavery.
