Summary

"Faust — Part 1" by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is a play unfolding the story of Dr. Heinrich Faust, a scholar restless despite his vast learning, leading him to strike a dangerous deal with the devil in exchange for ultimate knowledge and experience. Discontented with his existence, Faust contemplates magic, summoning a spirit he cannot bear to face, then Mephistopheles appears, offering Faust a chance to experience life's deepest pleasures and darkest corners, thus beginning a journey that questions the price of ambition and the eternal conflict between good and evil as Faust leaves his studies behind and begins exploring the world.
