Summary

"The Robbers" by Friedrich Schiller is a play that examines ideas about liberty, right and wrong, and what makes people good or bad. It tells the intense story of brothers Charles and Francis von Moor, who are very different from each other and cause a lot of drama. Charles is a good-intentioned person who becomes an outlaw and fights against the rules of society. Francis is a mean and greedy character who shows how evil ambition can be. The story begins with Francis telling their father untrue things that Charles has done, which makes the father very upset and creates conflict. Charles, feeling let down by society, decides to lead a group of robbers, setting up a story full of tough moral questions and the results of wanting too much.
